The Andersons to host Agronomy Field Day

WATERLOO, IN -- The Andersons will host Agronomy Field Day on Thursday, July 19 at their Waterloo, Indiana facility.  This year will again offer an excellent line-up of educational speakers who will discuss the latest updates in Agriculture.
The field day will feature presentations about pop-up and starter fertilizer placement with Greg Myers and Joe Farmer of The Andersons, Dicamba regulations with Elysia Rodgers from Purdue Extension, the value of drones to farming with Bob Nielson of Purdue University, and sprayer road safety with Dr. Fred Whitford, also of Purdue University.
The keynote address will be given by Johnny Hunter, a no-till farmer from Essex, Missouri who will speak about the importance of soil health to his farming operation.  In 2013, he replaced a system of intensive tillage and furrow irrigation for a model that focuses on rebuilding soils, ‘planting green’ and reducing irrigation.
The event is a joint effort between The Andersons, Purdue Extension, the USDA Natural Resources Conservation Service, and the DeKalb, Steuben, and Williams County Soil and Water Conservation Districts.
The day will run from 7:15 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. at The Andersons, located at 4743 Co. Rd 28 in Waterloo.  Registration begins at 7:00 a.m. for an optional grain market session from 7:15 – 8:15 a.m.  Welcome and introductions for the day’s events are scheduled to begin at 8:45 a.m.  Education credits for Private Applicators and other Ag Specialists will be available for attending.
